Kids Connections

Explore the ministry opportunities for your children at West Portal.

April, in Children's Ministry...

From retro toys to fashion trends, we all love a good throwback. (Especially for grown-ups because it reminds us of being young again). There are things that remind us of a moment in time, but other things feel timeless and like they're always in style. In this four-week series, kids will travel through the decades and see that the teachings of Jesus in the Gospels are always trending. As we hear from Jesus, we'll see it's always good to be humble, we can always forgive, Jesus is always fair, and love always needs action.

Want to learn and grow alongside your kid as we go through this teaching series? You can! Spend a few minutes each week studying the passages of Scripture we'll be teaching, praying about what God wants to do in your and in your family, and growing by putting God's words into practice in your own life.

Children's Ministry at West Portal

At West Portal Kids Connections, our kids experience safe, age-appropriate environments where they learn about Jesus in a creative and relevant way. Jr. High and High School aged kids have separate meetings as well.

We would love to have you and your family visit us!

Our vision in Children’s Ministry is to partner together with parents to guide kids towards a HEART for God.

Our mission at West Portal Church in Children’s Ministry is to empower parents and Children’s Ministry leaders to build God’s Kingdom by inviting the youngest among us to know and follow Jesus.

Your First Visit

Here is what to expect when checking into our Children's Ministry for the first time:

  • 3 & 4 year-olds will head down the hallway past the washrooms
  • Kindergarten & Grade 1 kids are up the stairs and down the hall
  • Grade 2-6 will be greeted at the Fellowship Hall doors (gym doors by the main floor washrooms)

We also have a special area for 2-year-olds down the hall to the left of the front doors.

If you need any help finding the appropriate space, just ask someone on our hospitality team - you'll know them by their nametag! They would be more than happy to point you in the right direction.

Checking In

Each area will have their own sign-in and sign-out sheet. First time check-ins will be asked the following information:

  • Parent/Guardian Name(s)
  • Home Address
  • Phone Number
  • Child's Name
  • Child's Birthdate/Grade
  • Any specific instructions (allergies, special needs) for your child(ren)

The parent/guardian whose name is written down at the time of sign-in must also be the parent who signs the child out.

Parents of two-year-old's will be given a pager in case your child may need you throughout the hour.

We hope you will enjoy your time spent with us. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Aimee at aimee@westportalchurch.ca.
